Recent years have brought unprecedented levels of stress, isolation, and uncertainty. Every day, individuals face battles with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, schizophrenia, trauma, and addiction. Illnesses that can steal futures, fracture families, and take lives too soon. Without proper care, individuals often end up in emergency rooms, jails, on the streets, or worse. People are desperate for timely intervention. But the growing need for care is outpacing access.

#
With access to the right care at the right moment, recovery is possible. Yet for many, the journey to recovery is blocked by long waits, limited program capacity, and the overwhelm of navigating the mental health system. Right now, more than 3,000 people are waiting, desperate for care at Ontario Shores. Their average 100-day wait is dangerously long, putting them at risk of crisis, relapse, homelessness, incarceration, and suicide. Tragic yet preventable outcomes.

As a leading mental health hospital, Ontario Shores is committed to helping everyone who walks through its doors – but its facilities, staff, and programs must expand to meet reality. Despite mental health challenges being among the most prevalent and debilitating conditions, they receive far less funding than physical illnesses with similar impacts. Mental health is consistently underfunded. Philanthropic support is essential to closing this critical gap.

#
Immigrant and Indigenous communities often face unique barriers to mental health care. Language differences, cultural stigma, and unfamiliarity with the health system can prevent people from seeking help when they need it most. In many families, mental illness remains difficult to discuss, delaying treatment until crises occur. Ontario Shores is committed to ensuring care is culturally informed, inclusive, and accessible to the diverse communities that call Ontario home. Philanthropic support helps expand culturally responsive programs, community partnerships, and outreach that ensure no one is left behind.

Together, we can ensure mental illness is met with treatment not tragedy.

For many desperate individuals and families, Ontario Shores is often their last hope — the last opportunity to access help. With your support, Ontario Shores can open its doors wider — ensuring timely, specialized care for people facing depression, psychosis, trauma, anxiety, eating disorders, dementia, and other complex mental health challenges. Mental illness can devastate individuals, families, and communities. But only when people cannot access the care they urgently need.

You are invited to stand with Ontario Shores and be a force for prevention, healing, and hope.

Mental health affects everybody. Creating a world where people are comfortable sharing their mental health stories, and bringing a greater awareness to cause that has historically played second fiddle…that’s our inspiration.
